ABOUT SWANBERG LIGHTING & DESIGN

Mission Statement

Swanberg Lighting & Design is a performance lighting design and production company that is based in the Santa Cruz County, Silicon Valley Bay Area, and San Francisco, California, U.S.A. but has recently expanded to Jämtland, Sweden. We provide all the labor and knowledge for the lighting department for live performances.

We are currently expanding to New York City and Stockholm!

We believe in illuminating stories in a striking, dramatic, and colorful way, while keeping our team safe and happy.

We rely on skill and talent to make a beautiful show, instead of unnecessary expensive rental packages and purchases. We make the most of the resources available in the venue, fix lighting gear as needed, and strategically designing the lighting rig to maximize utility of the lighting equipment in venues and hiring company’s inventory.

We believe in creating a supportive, positive, friendly, and fun work environment on our lighting teams and with any company we work with. We have an inclusive and accepting company, and include people of all genders, race, sexual orientation, ideas, backgrounds, and everything that makes a person a beautiful unique individual, as long as those ideas do not harm the inclusive environment. We encourage new ideas and new technologies.

About Me

Carina Anna Swanberg

Head Lighting Designer & CEO/Owner

I have been designing lights for theater, dance, and opera since 2014 in a variety of different venues, including outdoors, in small 24 dimmer theaters, medium sized black box theaters, and large 3/4 thrust stages.

I focus very much on color when designing a show. I use a mix of saturated and unsaturated colors, while also taking into consideration the unique, individual production I am working on. I use color to reinforce the themes and mood of each scene, moment, and production.

In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, skiing, drawing, painting, meditating, yoga, baking, and cooking.
